Dear Colleagues,
Before we parted in Bangkok last APFSD, we decided to release a communique to guide colleagues of what transpired at the APFSD 2016, most especially those who were not able to join us at the intergovernmentals. The Commuications Working Group led this strand of work and we came up with two documents: the RCEM Communique and the Session Summaries.
We planned to wait for the Chair’s Summary before we circulate these documents but since it has been a while and the official document has not been released, we decided to release ours anyway.
With these two documents, we would like to thank Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Australia, who led the negotiations for the APFSD to be a multi-stakeholder and inclusive space for engagement on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, moving forward. We also received expressed support to civil society from ESCAP (thru Mitchell Hsieh, Commission Secretary) as well as from ESCAP Executive Secretary herself, on two separate meetings.
We also would like to thank all civil society colleagues for your contributions, inputs, high spirits and even smiles that carried us through the CSO Forum and the APFSD.
